A highly regarded legal practice is looking for an experienced Clinical Negligence Solicitor (Grade B or equivalent) to join its well-established team based in Leeds. The firm can offer a fully remote working contract, but you will be required to attend the Leeds/northern office once a month. This is a key position within a thriving Clinical Negligence department, working alongside a highly skilled team recognised for its expertise and success in handling complex claims. The department includes accredited professionals with recognised expertise in claimant clinical negligence work.

You will take full responsibility for managing a caseload of clinical negligence matters, with a focus on proactive case progression, client service excellence and commercial awareness. You will also work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels, sharing knowledge and contributing to team success, as well as mentoring junior team members. This opportunity is well suited to an experienced solicitor seeking career development in a progressive and collaborative legal environment, where your work will be valued and your contribution recognised.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves running your own clinical negligence caseload from instruction to resolution. You will be expected to make tactical decisions, liaise with clients and experts, draft legal documents, negotiate settlements and litigate where appropriate. You will play an active part in delivering the department’s objectives, contribute to financial and performance targets, and support the team in managing complex matters efficiently and professionally.

Requirements

You will be a qualified solicitor with at least five years’ post-qualification experience, or have equivalent expertise, in clinical negligence litigation. Experience of managing a varied and complex caseload is essential, as is a commercial approach to case handling. Strong drafting, negotiation and communication skills are expected, along with excellent attention to detail, organisation and IT proficiency. You will be confident working independently, while also contributing to team development through mentoring and support.

Benefits include:
  • 35-hour working week
  • Discretionary bonus scheme based on performance
  • 35 days annual leave including bank holidays and Christmas closure
  • Option to purchase up to 3 additional days of annual leave per year
  • Additional holiday awarded after 5, 7 and 9 years of service
  • Contributory pension scheme with salary sacrifice option
  • Life assurance policy
  • Health cash plan covering dental, optical and everyday medical expenses
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity and IVF support policies
  • Company sick pay
  • Flexible and agile working environment supporting work-life balance
  • Regular company-funded social events
  • Monthly staff recognition awards with vouchers
  • Supportive and inclusive working culture
  • Ongoing training and structured professional development opportunities
