A leading disputes practice is seeking a Senior Solicitor or Associate to join its expanding Insurance & Liability Defence team. You’ll work on a diverse mix of defender personal injury and liability claims, including major loss, fatal cases and high‑profile litigation across the Sheriff Courts and Court of Session. The role offers the chance to handle your own caseload while supporting senior lawyers on complex work and contributing to the wider development of the team.
Role Requirements:
- Managing a caseload of defender personal injury and liability claims
- Assisting senior colleagues on complex and high‑value matters
- Handling claims arising from RTAs, workplace incidents, public liability and leisure‑related injuries
- Drafting pleadings, preparing written advice and undertaking advocacy
- Supporting non‑contentious advisory work and pre‑action investigations
- Mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to team learning initiatives
- Participating in business development and delivering client‑focused solutions
Experience:
- 2-5 PQE with experience in liability defence litigation
- Confident handling cases in the Sheriff Court and Court of Session
- Familiarity with motor, EL/PL and general personal injury claims
- Able to manage files independently and maintain client service standards
Skills:
- Clear and confident communicator
- Organised, proactive and able to prioritise effectively
- Commercially aware with good drafting and analytical abilities
- Collaborative team member with interest in business development
