The Role
You will join a centralised IP Paralegal team with a primary focus on patent support, working closely with attorneys on a wide range of UK, European, and international matters. This role goes beyond standard formalities, offering a more autonomous position with exposure to complex prosecution work and direct client interaction.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting attorneys with the drafting, filing, and prosecution of UK, EP, and PCT patent applications
- Managing international filings, including PCT national phase entries
- Handling correspondence with clients, foreign agents, and patent offices
- Maintaining and updating patent records within the IP management system
- Assisting with patent oppositions, searches, and due diligence projects
- Coordinating renewals and portfolio transfers
- Preparing client reports, updates, and cost estimates
- Mentoring junior support staff where appropriate
Requirements
- Experience in a Patent Paralegal or IP support role with a strong patent focus
- Solid understanding of UK, EP, and PCT procedures
- Experience managing deadlines and working across international portfolios
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Confident communicator with some client exposure
- Experience with IP systems (desirable)
