About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a newly qualified or part-qualified UK and/or European Patent Attorney with a background in chemistry, biology, biotechnology, medical technology, or pharmacology. The role offers the chance to work closely with experienced partners and colleagues, gaining exposure to a broad and interesting client base while developing technical and commercial expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drafting, filing, and prosecuting UK, European, and international patent applications in chemistry and life sciences.
  • Advising clients on patent strategy, portfolio management, and freedom‑to‑operate issues.
  • Collaborating with partners and colleagues to deliver high‑quality advice to national and international clients.
  • Supporting contentious and non‑contentious patent matters.
  • Managing deadlines and workload efficiently while maintaining high standards of accuracy.
  • Building client relationships and contributing to the growth of the practice.

Requirements

  • Newly qualified or part‑qualified UK and/or European Patent Attorney (or equivalent) in private practice or in‑house.
  • Background in chemistry, biology, biotechnology, medical technology, or pharmacology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for working with a multi‑national client base.
  • Strong organisational skills, time management, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Proactive and self‑motivated, with a willingness to learn and take on responsibility.
