A nationally recognised police litigation team is seeking a motivated and committed Solicitor to join its specialist practice, acting for police forces on a range of civil protective orders and operational matters that play a vital role in safeguarding vulnerable individuals and creating safer communities. This is fast‑paced, impactful legal work where your drafting, advocacy and advice directly contribute to real‑world outcomes. Successful applications lead to immediate protection for victims, reduced risk and swift preventative action. The role offers significant autonomy, responsibility and the opportunity to develop genuine expertise within a highly regarded specialist area of law.

You will manage your own caseload of civil protective order matters from preparation through to hearing, working closely with police clients and counsel where required. Your work will include:

  • Managing cases end‑to‑end, from drafting applications to court hearings
  • Handling a high‑volume caseload of civil protective orders, including:
    • Domestic Violence Protection Orders (DVPOs)
    • Stalking Protection Orders (SPOs)
    • Sexual Harm Prevention Orders (SHPOs)
  • Preparing high‑quality court bundles and progressing urgent matters efficiently
  • Conducting advocacy in the Magistrates’ Court
  • Providing practical, operational advice to police clients
  • Maintaining accurate case management, diary control and time recording
  • Collaborating closely with colleagues to ensure efficient shared workflows

This role suits Solicitors who enjoy ownership of their work and thrive in environments where organisation, clarity and decisiveness are essential. You will be able to demonstrate:

  • Qualification as a Solicitor (NQ – 5 years’ PQE)
  • A genuine interest in police law, litigation, or public protection work

  • Willingness to attend court hearings as required
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage pressure effectively
