Head of Conveyancing/Office Manager
Hatfield, Hertfordshire | £80,000 + Performance Bonus
An established and growing Hertfordshire law firm is looking to appoint an experienced legal professional to take on a senior leadership position within its Hatfield office.
This is a genuinely high-autonomy opportunity, combining fee earning with responsibility for the day-to-day management of the entire office.
You will continue to handle a strong residential conveyancing caseload, undertake commercial property work where required, lead the conveyancing function and work closely with the firm's owner on the continued growth and development of the business.
The Opportunity
This is much more than a traditional conveyancing management position. You will become the senior operational presence within the Hatfield office, overseeing the day-to-day running of the office while continuing to contribute as a hands-on fee earner.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a busy residential conveyancing caseload, including sales and purchases
- Handling commercial property and conveyancing matters where required
- Leading and supervising the conveyancing team
- Taking responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the wider office
- Supervising and directing paralegal and administrative support
- Monitoringbilling, productivity and profitability
- Maintaining high standards of legal work, file management and regulatory compliance
- Taking responsibility for relevant SRA regulatory responsibilities, including COLP and COFA
- Managing client expectations and resolving concerns effectively
- Setting priorities and promoting accountability across the office
- Supporting the firm's owner with the continued development and growth of the business
- Contributing to business development and revenue growth
- Working collaboratively with the firm's litigation and probate teams
Who is the firm looking for?
The firm is open to speaking with an experienced Conveyancing Solicitor, Conveyancing Manager, Head of Department or Partner who is looking for a genuine leadership opportunity.
You'll ideally have:
- 6+ PQE or equivalent senior-level conveyancing experience
- Strong residential conveyancing expertise
- The ability to undertake commercial property work
- Previous experience managing a team, department or office
- A strong track record of fee earning and billing
- Commercial awareness and an understanding of profitability
- Excellent organisational and client-management skills
- A confident, authoritative and supportive leadership style
- The ability to work autonomously and make decisions
- A genuine interest in helping shape and grow a law firm
