G1 Search is delighted to be partnering with an award-winning, established privately owned construction company to appoint a Head of Contracts. This is not a traditional contracts role within construction, but a key leadership opportunity within a highly respected business, offering a clear pathway to Director level and the potential for equity participation for the right individual over time. The business has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland and is now seeking to strengthen its senior leadership team as part of its long-term succession plans.

The Head of Contracts will play a central role in leading the successful delivery of multiple construction projects, taking full accountability for performance across programme, commercial outcomes, quality, safety, and client relationships. Operating across both operational and commercial aspects of the business, the successful candidate will work closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team to support the continued growth and development of the company, while also contributing to longer-term strategic planning and leadership succession. This is a newly created, hands-on leadership role requiring a strong on-site presence and the ability to engage effectively with project teams, clients, and supply chain partners across a diverse project portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the delivery of multiple construction projects from pre-construction through to completion
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety
  • Take full accountability for commercial performance, including margin, cost control, and cashflow
  • Manage contracts across NEC, JCT, and Public Works frameworks, including variations, claims, and risk mitigation
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and key delivery partners
  • Provide leadership, direction, and support to project and site teams, developing high-performing and accountable teams
  • Contribute to strategic planning, business improvement initiatives, and the ongoing growth of the company
Required Experience:
  • Significant experience in a senior construction or contracts management role
  • Proven track record of delivering multiple projects across programme, budget, quality, and safety requirements
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience managing margins, contracts, and financial performance
  • Experience operating within NEC, JCT, and/or Public Works Contracts environments
  • Demonstrable experience leading and developing project teams
  • Strong client-facing and stakeholder management capability
