G Trott Tree Consultancy (GTTC) is a growing arboricultural consultancy delivering professional, practical advice across tree safety, condition surveys, and planning‑related projects. Due to a rapidly increasing workload, we are looking to recruit our first employee to join the business and support consultancy delivery across the South of England and Wales. This is a key role in the early growth of GTTC and an excellent opportunity for a graduate or trainee arboricultural consultant to gain hands‑on experience, real responsibility, and long‑term career progression.
The successful candidate will support arboricultural consultancy work from day one. While training and support will be provided, you will be expected to work independently on appropriate tasks and contribute immediately to project delivery. Typical duties will include:
- Assisting with tree safety and condition surveys
- Supporting BS5837:2012 planning‑related projects
- Collecting site data and preparing survey notes
- Assisting with QTRA assessments (training provided where required)
- Producing basic reports and supporting documentation
- Attending site visits across the South of England and Wales
- General consultancy support to help manage and reduce workload
The role will develop quickly, with increasing responsibility as experience and confidence grow.
This role is suited to a motivated individual with pre‑existing arboricultural knowledge who is looking to develop a career in consultancy. You should:
- Hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel for work
- Be able to work independently and manage your own workload
- Be reliable, organised, and proactive
- Be comfortable starting work immediately on simpler tasks
- Have good written and verbal communication skills
- Be keen to learn, develop, and grow with the business
Essential / Highly Desirable:
- A relevant arboricultural qualification
- Completion of, or currently undertaking, a Level 4 qualification in Arboriculture
- Some familiarity with BS5837:2012 and tree inspection work
- Previous consultancy experience is helpful but not essential — attitude, competence, and willingness to take responsibility are key
Location & Working Arrangements:
- Full‑time, permanent position
- Remote working with regular site visits
- Ideally based in or around Exeter or Bristol, with good access to the M5 corridor
