We’re looking for an experienced Works Delivery Business Manager to lead the safe, efficient and compliant delivery of electrical, mechanical and chemical dosing engineering works across multiple programmes and clients. This is a senior, hands‑on role with responsibility for end‑to‑end project delivery, contractor performance, safety and compliance, financial control, and continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with internal teams, supply‑chain partners and clients, while also overseeing our pump workshop and pump diagnostics teams. The Role:
- Lead the end‑to‑end delivery of electrical and mechanical works including maintenance, upgrades, installations and capital projects.
- Develop and manage delivery plans, programmes and resource models in collaboration with planning teams.
- Monitor progress against milestones and take corrective action where required.
- Oversee commissioning and handover, ensuring all testing and documentation is fully completed.
- Ensure all works comply with UK legislation and standards, including Electricity at Work Regulations, PUWER, LOLER and CDM.
- Promote a strong safety culture through audits, toolbox talks and incident reviews.
- Review and approve risk assessments, method statements and technical designs.
- Ensure quality assurance and inspection processes are embedded throughout delivery.
- Manage E&M contractors, ensuring productivity, performance and contractual compliance.
- Support procurement activities, including tender reviews and technical evaluations.
- Build strong supplier relationships to drive value for money and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with commercial and contracts teams to provide operational input.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts and cost controls.
- Identify and mitigate delivery risks, putting effective contingency plans in place.
- Support business case development, scope definition and investment decisions.
- Promote engineering best practice across the business.
- Capture lessons learned and drive process, asset and delivery improvements.
- Champion digital tools, data‑driven decision making and modern methods of construction.
- Identify opportunities with existing and new clients to support business growth.
What you’ll need:
- HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Proven experience delivering electrical and/or mechanical engineering works in the UK.
- Strong experience managing contractors and multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Experience working in regulated or safety‑critical environments.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong planning, forecasting and cost management capability.
- Solid understanding of health & safety legislation.
- IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
- Membership of a professional body (IET, IMechE, CIBSE).
- Knowledge of NEC contracts and project management fundamentals.
- Experience within the water industry or similar infrastructure environments.
