We tackle the most complex problems in quantitative finance, by bringing scientific clarity to financial complexity. From our London HQ, we unite world-class researchers and engineers in an environment that values deep exploration and methodical execution - because the best ideas take time to evolve. Together we’re building a world-class platform to amplify our teams’ most powerful ideas. Security is foundational to this mission and must be delivered in a way that supports how our engineering teams build and operate complex systems at scale.
The role involves our engineering teams building and operating a wide range of products and platforms that support research, modelling, and client trading across the firm. Security issues identified through audits, testing, or other assurance activities must be addressed quickly, correctly, and in a way that strengthens the product over time. The Security Engineering function exists to ensure that identified security issues are not only fixed, but understood, generalised, and prevented from reoccurring. This requires engineers who can embed directly with product and platform teams, learn systems deeply, and deliver security improvements that integrate cleanly into existing ways of working. The focus of the team is to raise the overall security baseline across the organisation by making secure solutions the easiest path to follow, without creating friction for delivery teams.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Owning the direction and prioritisation of DevSecOps security platforms and services ensuring they meet real engineering and risk needs
- Leading and operating core security capabilities including PKI, secrets management and developer facing security tooling
- Setting technical standards and providing hands on leadership including design decisions and senior escalation
- Ensuring security services are reliable, well operated and integrated cleanly into engineering workflows
- Line managing and developing DevSecOps engineers while building a culture of ownership, trust and continuous improvement
- Partnering closely with engineering and security leaders to influence secure design decisions and raise overall security capability
- Communicating priorities trade-offs and risks clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Evolving the scope of the function over time, including owning additional security technologies and reducing risk across the software estate
Who are we looking for? The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Strong experience in DevSecOps security engineering or platform engineering roles building and operating shared services
- Solid understanding of secure software delivery including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code and cloud native environments
- Experience owning security critical platforms, such as PKI, secrets management or similar foundational services
- Comfortable remaining close to the technology, providing technical guidance and making design decisions when required
- Proven experience leading engineers, including setting expectations, managing performance and supporting development
- Strong judgement when balancing security outcomes, delivery pace and operational risk
- The ability to communicate clearly with engineers, managers and senior stakeholders, and influence decisions beyond your immediate team
- Confident explaining security concepts in a way that enables delivery rather than blocking it
- Motivated by ownership accountability and developing both yourself and others
Why join us?
