The TeamThe Data Research and Delivery team is part of G Research\âs quantitative research function. We\âre responsible for the company\âs research data assets, overseeing the lifecycle of data products, from discovery through to supervising the commercial aspects of production. We\âre the bridge between the firm\âs quantitative research function and external suppliers of data.
The main functions of the team include:
Responsibility for the composition of the data estate, ensuring that it is wellâaligned with the research division\âs short and longâterm requirements
Maintaining a knowledge base of the global financial and other related data industries, ensuring that data sources are discoverable, wellâcategorised, wellâdocumented and easily available
Engaging proactively with the data industry to better understand and influence product roadmaps and key industry trends
Engaging crossâgroup on the operational aspects of the data lifecycle, ensuring legal and commercial requirements are efficient, compliant and scalable
The roleWe are looking for a specialist in the financial data space to take a leading role in developing the team\âs capabilities. Working with senior leadership in the Research division, you will be responsible for ensuring our data environment supports our worldâclass research function.
Building on your established network, you will strengthen strategic ties across the industry and help drive innovation in response to the evolving data landscape. You will play an active role in ensuring data research projects progress smoothly and that communication with vendors and partners is wellâcoordinated.
As a senior member of the team you will lead by example, taking responsibility for mentoring and developing colleagues, and representing the team\âs work in divisionâwide functions.
Who are we looking for?The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
Extensive experience in data acquisition, research and analysis within the financial industry, either in a Tier 1 bank or top buyâside institution
A proven track record of sourcing and acquiring financial and financeâadjacent data sets and forging longâterm relationships with data vendors
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to proactively and strategically build strong internal and external stakeholder networks
A creative problemâsolver and strong negotiator
The capacity to work autonomously and collaborate in a multiâfunctional team, along with experience leading projects and a willingness to nurture the skills of others
Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in statistical software, such as Python, and data visualisation tools, such as Tableau, a benefit
Familiarity with database management, data manipulation, data warehousing and data delivery solutions
Degree in Finance, Economics, Data Science, Statistics or a related field
A finance related postâgrad or professional qualification, like the CFA, is a benefit
