We tackle the most complex problems in quantitative finance, by bringing scientific clarity to financial complexity. From our London HQ, we unite world-class researchers and engineers in an environment that values deep exploration and methodical execution - because the best ideas take time to evolve. Together we’re building a world-class platform to amplify our teams’ most powerful ideas. Security is foundational to this mission and must be delivered in a way that supports how our engineering teams build and operate complex systems at scale.

The role involves our engineering teams building and operating platforms and products that underpin research, modelling and client trading. These systems are performance-critical, highly available and continuously evolving. Security issues are identified through testing, audit, operational learning and threat intelligence. Addressing them effectively requires engineers who can work directly within product and platform teams, understand systems in depth and deliver fixes as part of normal development workflows.

The embedded Security Engineering team exists to make that happen. As a Security Engineer in the team, you will embed within delivery teams, learn their codebases and architectures and take responsibility for designing and implementing robust security fixes in production systems. This includes writing production-quality code, participating fully in planning and delivery and ensuring solutions align with performance and reliability requirements. Beyond fixing individual issues, you will help identify recurring patterns, drive improvements that reduce systemic risk and leave teams better equipped to build and operate secure systems over time.

This role carries significant responsibility and autonomy, requiring sound technical judgement and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative, consensus-driven engineering environment.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Embedding with product or platform teams to design and implement fixes for identified security issues
  • Learning unfamiliar systems and codebases quickly, contributing effectively to existing delivery processes
  • Writing high-quality, maintainable code that addresses security issues without introducing unnecessary complexity or performance regression
  • Owning security work from investigation through to delivery and follow-up
  • Ensuring fixes are understood, tested and safely deployed
  • Identifying patterns in security issues and contributing to broader improvements where appropriate
  • Collaborating with experienced engineers to reach well-reasoned solutions, incorporating feedback and differing perspectives
  • Communicating clearly about issues, solutions and trade-offs with engineers and stakeholders
  • Acting as a role model for pragmatic, delivery-focused security engineering

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for engineers with deep security expertise who are comfortable working inside complex systems and delivering real outcomes, particularly in environments where decisions are shaped through technical discussion and collaboration. The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Deep understanding of security concepts and common failure modes in modern infrastructure and applications
  • A proven ability to learn unfamiliar technology stacks quickly and work effectively within them
  • Experience fixing security issues in existing systems, rather than only identifying or advising on them
  • Good engineering judgement, including the ability to balance security, performance, reliability and delivery constraints
  • A proven ability to work productively with other deeply technical engineers, contributing to decisions through reasoning, evidence and delivery
  • Clear communication skills and a pragmatic, collaborative mindset

Highly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonus. Lunch provided (via Just Eat for Business) and dedicated barista bar. 30 days’ annual leave. 9% company pension contributions. Informal dress code and excellent work/life balance. Comprehensive healthcare and life assurance.
