Overview
In this role you will build and evolve the Linux platform stack that underpins a high-performance compute environment for quantitative research. You will own OS images, provisioning, observability, security, and tooling, helping move the platform toward autonomous, AI-enabled operations. You’ll contribute to a secure, scalable infrastructure that supports large-scale research and innovation. This is a hands-on, cross-disciplinary role that combines deep Linux expertise with automation and incident response, in a fast-paced, mission-driven team.

Responsibilities
- Build, release and maintain core Linux OS images across the estate
- Develop provisioning and lifecycle management systems (PXE, kickstart, cloud-init)
- Design and maintain APIs, databases and package tooling used across the firm
- Apply Infrastructure as Code with Ansible to automate deployments
- Lead vulnerability response including CVE triage and remediation
- Help design agentic frameworks for autonomous detection and remediation
- Improve observability and telemetry to track OS health, provisioning and compliance
Key requirements
- Strong hands-on Linux experience (RHEL and Ubuntu)
- Deep knowledge of Linux internals (boot process, kernel modules, filesystems, package management)
- Kernel optimisation and performance tuning knowledge desirable
- Knowledge of eBPF is a strong плюс
- Strong programming skills (Python)
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Ansible) and automation
- Strong understanding of Linux security, hardening, patch management and CIS benchmarks
- Interest in agentic/AI-driven operations beneficial
