Key Responsibilities
- Running, maintaining and supporting G-Research’s Kubernetes & OpenStack platforms day‑to‑day
- Maintaining existing and developing new platform tooling and automation
- Lifecycle management monitoring of Core Compute, Trading and Research platforms
- Assisting with internal customer support responsibilities
Who are we looking for?
We are seeking a motivated and capable student currently enrolled in a Computer Science degree programme with a placement (sandwich) year, graduating in 2028. We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and skilled undergraduate student with excellent technical and interpersonal skills, keen to gain industry exposure.
Desired skills and experience
- Exposure to and a good understanding of Linux systems (ideally Ubuntu)
- Desired programming languages, ideally in Python or Go
- Basic Networking and File System/Storage knowledge
- Exposure to source control tools (e.g. Github)
- A solid understanding of computer systems and hardware
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A quick learner who is able to thrive in a challenging and fast‑paced environment
- A demonstrated passion for technology
- An interest in the Financial Services sector
Nice to have
- Familiarity with containerisation tools (e.g. Docker)
- Experience creating Dockerfiles, building and running Container Images
- Any level of exposure to or knowledge of Kubernetes
- Exposure to a cloud computing platform (e.g. OpenStack, AWS or Azure)
- A basic understanding of virtualization technologies (i.e. VM’s and Hypervisors)
Please note, due to our desire to convert the top of our intern cohort into our graduate programme we are only able to consider applications from those graduating in 2028.
