We tackle the most complex problems in quantitative finance, by bringing scientific clarity to financial complexity.

From our London HQ, we unite world-class researchers and engineers in an environment that values deep exploration and methodical execution - because the best ideas take time to evolve. Together we’re building a world-class platform to amplify our teams’ most powerful ideas.

As part of our engineering team, you’ll shape the platforms and tools that drive high-impact research - designing systems that scale, accelerate discovery and support innovation across the firm.

Take the next step in your career.

The role

G-Research is looking for an experienced Network Engineer to take a hands-on technical leadership role driving the reliability, performance, resilience, and security of our network and network security infrastructure across datacentre and office environments.

Using SRE practices, automation, and observability, you'll apply an engineering-led approach to operations - reducing toil, improving visibility, accelerating incident response, and eliminating recurring issues. You'll combine deep technical expertise with cross-team influence to shape and mature networking processes, drive operational excellence, and continuously improve the resilience and scalability of our network services.

Key responsibilities:

  • Build and evolve SRE practices for the network, championing an automation-first approach using tooling, observability, and emerging technologies (including agentic AI)
  • Own the operational performance, stability, availability, and security posture of network and network security platforms end to end
  • Enhance observability across telemetry, alerting, and performance monitoring to enable proactive operations
  • Develop our event-driven network architecture built on Infrastructure as Code principles
  • Lead the charge on critical network and security incidents: fast diagnosis, decisive containment, and permanent fixes that stop issues coming back - then dig into the root cause to engineer out systemic, recurring problems
  • Develop and refine operational tooling, runbooks, and incident response frameworks that raise the bar on service delivery

Who are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • Strong background as a networks technical lead in enterprise or large-scale environments
  • Experience applying SRE, observability, and automation principles to networking, using technologies such as Python, Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, Ansible, Jenkins
  • Experience with Cisco and Arista switching and routing, alongside network security infrastructure (e.g. firewalls, IDS/IPS, network segmentation)
  • Experience with, or a strong interest in, event-driven automation and AI-assisted operations, including the use of emerging technologies to improve diagnostics, remediation and operational efficiency
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

Why should you apply?

  • Highly competitive compensation plus annual discretionary bonus
  • Lunch provided (via Just Eat for Business) and dedicated barista bar
  • 30 days' annual leave
  • 9% company pension contributions
  • Informal dress code and excellent work/life balance
  • Comprehensive healthcare and life assurance
  • Cycle-to-work scheme
  • Monthly company events
