An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Entity Controller to join the Finance team in Slough (Hybrid working). This is a high-impact role within the Americas General Ledger function, supporting the accounting for principal US operating companies and the global technology business. The role reports to the Finance Manager, Accounting.
About the Role
As Entity Controller, you will take ownership of the trial balance and financial close processes for key US legal entities. You will play a critical role in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting, delivering detailed variance analysis and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information. You will work closely with an outsourced BPO partner while maintaining ultimate responsibility for the entity-level accounting. This is a hands‑on position that requires strong technical accounting skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to collaborate across global teams and time zones.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the month, quarter, and year-end timetable, resolving bottlenecks and escalating issues as needed.
- Perform detailed review of trial balance, revenue, cost of revenue, operating expenses, and balance sheet variances/trends.
- Review/approve and prepare manual journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and other adjusting entries with robust supporting documentation.
- Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and ensure control accounts are analysed and cleared.
- Produce monthly legal entity reporting packs, including P&L and Balance Sheet analysis with supporting commentary.
Governance, Audit & Stakeholder Support
- Act as the key point of contact for external auditors, coordinating the PBC list and responding promptly to audit queries.
- Prepare financial statements for legal entities and provide accurate financial information and analysis to senior management, tax, controllership, and other stakeholders.
- Support global standardisation efforts and assist other entities as required.
- Deputise for the Finance Manager when needed.
Process & Controls
- Own key control processes and ensure compliance with relevant controls.
- Continuously review and improve accounting processes and procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with the BPO partner to deliver agreed objectives.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Practical and proven experience in a similar senior GL / Entity Controller role within a large multinational organisation.
- High level of computer literacy, with advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPS, etc.) and experience with automated accounting systems – Oracle experience highly desirable.
- Exposure to US GAAP and SOX is advantageous.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to analyse and explain financial results clearly.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams and time zones.
- Proven ability to work autonomously, manage priorities, and deliver under pressure.
- Strong team player with flexibility, resilience, and a continuous improvement mindset.
