G.Network are looking to expand our Field Engineering Team. The Network Upgrade Team plays a critical role in supporting the delivery of full fibre FTTP broadband to London. This position requires hands-on rodding and fibre splicing experience to help us build and upgrade the core spine of the network and deliver to the highest possible standards.
You will be responsible for:
- Working as part of a team to install our core fibre network infrastructure using 96f and 24f cable
- Splicing fibre cables from 2 to 96f, interpreting job packs, surveys and fibre plans and adapting accordingly whilst working with planning
- Rodding and roping, sub ducting and cable pulling
- Fibre testing and fault finding, capturing data and presenting feedback
- Carrying out area surveys and risk assessments
- Producing method statements
- Planning workload to deliver tasks and projects efficiently, whilst meeting KPIs and the business objectives
- Being a champion of safety and promoting the business brand
Qualifications:
- Experience building the core/spine of a fibre network, with a range of different fibre types
- Solving networking problems where information is missing or ambiguous
- Using a fusion splicer and fibre splicing
- Rodding and roping
- Basic PC literacy
- Full UK manual driving licence held for at least 12 months and with no more than 6 points
- Good level of Maths and English
- An understanding of PON and active ethernet technologies
- Experience with a fibre broadband carrier e.g. Openreach or Virgin Media
- Experience in PIA (Physical Infrastructure Access) of the BT Network, fibre blowing
- Operating iOLM and OTDR
- Ability to interpret SLD Telecom construction blueprints
- Accredited external qualifications in fibre installation (e.g. CNCI, COPT, City & Guilds, BTEC)
- NRSWA CSCS
