G MASS are partnering with a London market insurer to find an experienced Scrum Master to support its IT Operations function. Reporting to the Head of IT Operations, you will build on a newly introduced Azure DevOps structure and embed agreed ways of working across the teams, giving the business far clearer visibility of demand, workload, ownership and progress. This is a defined engagement running through to the end of December 2026, with a strong emphasis on coaching and leaving the teams self-sufficient.
The Role:
IT Operations has recently moved to a new Azure DevOps setup and now needs someone to bring it to life. You will shape how work is broken down into Features, User Stories and Tasks, set consistent standards for how demand is captured, prioritised and tracked, and coach multidisciplinary operations teams to adopt the new approach as their own. A key part of the challenge is balancing planned project work with unplanned operational demand, so a practical understanding of how IT Operations runs day to day will be important.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coach the IT Operations teams in Agile best practice and sprint-based delivery
- Build out and maintain Azure DevOps boards in line with the organisation's agreed Agile process
- Support the migration of existing IT Operations work into Azure DevOps, reviewing and rationalising current demand
- Define a consistent approach for capturing and triaging new demand
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies and working sessions, including stand-ups and sprint planning
- Establish a model for managing planned and unplanned operational work, ensuring BAU activity continues to meet agreed SLAs
- Develop and maintain Azure DevOps dashboards and reporting that give clear visibility of demand, capacity and progress
- Drive consistent adoption of the new ways of working across all IT Operations teams
- Transfer knowledge and ownership so the teams can sustain the approach independently once the engagement concludes
Requirements:
- Proven Scrum Master or Agile coaching experience within an IT function, ideally supporting IT Operations or infrastructure teams
- Strong hands-on Azure DevOps experience, including board configuration, work item hierarchy (Features, User Stories, Tasks), queries and dashboards
- Track record of introducing or embedding Agile ways of working in teams new to the approach
- Practical understanding of balancing project delivery with BAU and SLA-driven operational work
- Confident facilitator and coach, able to build buy-in across multidisciplinary technical teams
- Organised and detail-focused, with clear and pragmatic stakeholder communication
- London market or wider financial services experience is a plus but not essential
Length: initial 3 month contract
