We’re supporting a specialist consultancy working with London Market carriers and managing agents to redesign how Delegated Authority due diligence and coverholder onboarding is done - properly, from the ground up. This is a senior, hands-on SME role, sitting deliberately ahead of delivery. The focus is on up-front discovery, operating model design and target-state definition for DA due diligence and onboarding, before anything is handed to build or configuration teams. The consultant will act as a trusted delegated authority thought partner to carriers, managing agents, and coverholders - shaping what the process should look like, not simply documenting technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the delegated authority SME in early-stage client engagements, partnering with carriers, managing agents and coverholders to define target-state DA due diligence, onboarding and governance models.
- Lead discovery and design workshops, challenging client assumptions where required and translating regulatory, operational and commercial intent into coherent future-state operating models.
- Own the definition of target-state DA workflows, including coverholder onboarding, binder approval, periodic reviews, sanctions and KYC checks, attestations, escalations and auditability.
- Move clients beyond “technical asks” by co-designing how DA processes should operate in practice - ownership models, decision points, evidencing standards, SLAs and exception handling.
- Produce clear, implementation-ready design artefacts that articulate what needs to be built and why, enabling downstream teams to configure without re-interpretation.
- Translate agreed target-state models into structured configuration inputs, including workflow logic, roles and permissions, routing rules, data capture requirements and approval hierarchies.
- Design end-to-end DA workflows aligned across governance, compliance, underwriting operations and onboarding/vendor teams, with clear accountability and hand-offs.
- Manage requirement evolution during discovery, clearly articulating scope boundaries, design decisions and trade-offs before build commences.
- Define DA data models and mandatory information sets aligned to Lloyd’s, internal governance and audit expectations.
- Support testing and UAT by validating that configured solutions reflect the original target-state intent.
- Capture and standardise reusable DA operating models and workflow patterns to accelerate future rollouts.
Qualifications
- Deep London Market Delegated Authority expertise, with hands-on understanding of coverholder onboarding, due diligence, TPA oversight, binder governance and ongoing approval processes.
- Proven experience acting as a trusted SME, shaping DA operating models rather than simply documenting requirements.
- Track record of moving clients from fragmented or demand-driven DA processes to clear, scalable target-state designs.
- Hands-on experience working with DA due diligence, onboarding, or case/workflow platforms, translating business design into configuration-ready artefacts.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, comfortable constructively challenging senior DA, compliance and underwriting stakeholders.
- Ability to balance regulatory rigour with operational pragmatism, clearly articulating design trade-offs.
- Excellent documentation skills, producing target-state process maps, decision frameworks, design packs and configuration blueprints suitable for audit and regulatory scrutiny.
Salary to be discussed. 6-month initial contract.
