Provide business analysis expertise to support the design and implementation of an underwriting workbench and related workflow capabilities, focusing on the end‑to‑end underwriting and operations lifecycle. The role will translate business needs into structured requirements, processes and documentation to enable successful delivery of new solutions.
Responsibilities
- Assess existing underwriting and operations processes and systems, performing gap analysis and documenting opportunities for improved ways of working.
- Elicit, validate and document functional and non‑functional requirements for the underwriting workbench and associated workflow solutions.
- Plan and facilitate process‑mapping workshops with Underwriting, Operations, Exposure Management and other stakeholders, producing clear process maps and supporting artefacts.
- Ensure underwriting and operational processes are consistently understood, documented and agreed across all core functions.
- Partner with Product Owners and Business Analysts to drive discovery activities and shape solution options across the underwriting lifecycle.
- Support Azure DevOps usage by creating and maintaining user stories, acceptance criteria and related backlog items, ensuring alignment with stakeholder expectations.
- Produce high‑quality business requirements documentation suitable for RFI/RFP exercises and vendor engagement.
- Develop a strong working knowledge of the client's user interfaces and tools to support end‑user training, enhancement requests and stakeholder queries.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Business Analyst within insurance or financial services, ideally with exposure to underwriting or operations change initiatives.
- Strong capability in process mapping, gap analysis and requirements definition, with proficiency in common BA tools and methods.
- Experience working with product owners, technology teams and business stakeholders to shape and prioritise change.
- Familiarity with Agile delivery practices and backlog management tools such as Azure DevOps.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to run structured workshops and translate complex topics into clear artefacts.
- Highly organised, detail‑oriented and comfortable managing multiple workstreams concurrently.
