In a care home setting, mealtimes are often the highlight of the day. You won't just be cooking; you'll be ensuring our residents receive the care and dignity they deserve through excellent food service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and cook varied, balanced, and tasty meals tailored to the dietary needs of elderly residents.
  • Manage specialized diets, including fortified meals, diabetic-friendly options, and texture-modified foods (IDDSI standards).
  • Maintain the highest standards of kitchen hygiene and food safety (HACCP), ensuring a 5-star food hygiene rating.
  • Order stock, manage budgets, and minimize wastage while maintaining a high standard of ingredients.
  • Engage with residents to gather feedback on menus and ensure their preferences are met.
Requirements
  • Experience: Previous experience as a Chef, preferably within a healthcare, school, or residential care setting.
  • Qualifications: NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery or Food Preparation (or equivalent).
  • Compliance: Valid Level 2 or 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Skills: Strong understanding of nutrition for the elderly and knowledge of modified textures.
  • Attributes: A patient, empathetic nature and a 'can-do' attitude.
  • DBS: An enhanced DBS check will be required for this role (we can assist with this process).
