Our client is a UK-based engineering, installation and construction organisation specialising in bespoke bulk materials handling systems and full process plant solutions.
Their expertise covers the full project lifecycle – from initial design engineering, and technical consultation through to EPCM/EPC contracts, construction, installation, commissioning, and long-term maintenance.
They deliver solutions for clients across mining, cement, aggregates, food, alternative fuels, biomass, steel, infrastructure, and ports, both in the UK and internationally.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a team with decades of experience and play a key role in delivering and the completion of a large, complex project.
The role Welding and fabrication of heavy structures on a busy site installation ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.
Key responsibilities
- Flux core - wire-feeding machine to join heavy mild steel / plate
- Reading drawings, preparing joints
- Operating flux core welding tool, and chipping away protective slag after welding
- Inspect work to ensure joints are strong and free from defects/cracks etc
- Move, sort, and stage steel materials, tools, and equipment as required.
- Keep work areas clean, organised, and free from hazards.
- Inspect tools and equipment before use and report defects or safety concerns.
- Follow all site health and safety procedures, including the correct use of PPE and safe working practices.
- Support other site activities as directed by supervisor
Skills and experience
- NVQ L3 in Welding, Fabrication or related sectors
- FCAW coded welder
- CSCS card
- Previous experience in flux-core welding, fabrication, heavy engineering construction, or industrial installation preferred.
- Good attention to detail.
- Physically fit and able to work in a demanding site environment.
- Reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work as part of a team.

- PPE required at all times
