Location: South Yorkshire / NE Lincs / Sheffield / Rotherham / Doncaster / Scunthorpe.
Duration: On-going – 12hr shifts days or nights – Start ASAP.
Client
Our client is a UK‑based engineering, installation and construction organisation specialising in bespoke bulk materials handling systems and full process plant solutions. They provide services across the full project lifecycle – from design engineering and technical consultation through to EPCM/EPC contracts, construction, installation, commissioning and long‑term maintenance.
Role
Welding and fabrication of heavy structures on a busy site installation ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Flux core – wire‑feeding machine to join heavy mild steel / plate
- Read drawings and prepare joints
- Operate flux core welding tool and chip away protective slag after welding
- Inspect work to ensure joints are strong and free from defects or cracks
- Move, sort, and stage steel materials, tools and equipment as required
- Keep work areas clean, organised, and free from hazards
- Inspect tools and equipment before use and report defects or safety concerns
- Follow all site health and safety procedures, including correct use of PPE and safe working practices
- Support other site activities as directed by supervisor
Skills and Experience
- NVQ Level 3 in Welding, Fabrication or related sectors
- FCAW coded welder
- CSCS card
- Previous experience in flux‑core welding, fabrication, heavy engineering construction or industrial installation preferred
- Good attention to detail
- Physically fit and able to work in a demanding site environment
- Reliable, safety‑conscious and able to work as part of a team
Working Conditions
- Site‑based industrial environment
- May involve manual handling, dust, noise, sparks
- Working at pace to meet installation deadlines
- PPE required at all times
