Our Client: Our client are a specialist UK engineering business delivering electrical and mechanical automation projects within fast-moving industrial environments across the UK and overseas. The Role: Reporting to a Project Manager and/or Project Engineer, you will support mechanical and electrical installation activities on projects of varying size and complexity. You will work safely at all times and help ensure delivery in line with current legislation and company procedures.
As an experienced Site Welder/Fabricator with a background in industrial environments, ideally involving electrical containment systems and small stainless-steel support structures. You will need to be comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider site team, with a solid understanding of site safety and mechanical installation practices.
Site Welder / Fabricator key daily & weekly responsibilities:
- Support the installation, maintenance, modification and repair of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Assist Project Managers and Project Engineers with information to support quote preparation.
- Work in line with safe systems of work (including RAMS).
- Comply with any Permit to Work requirements on client sites.
- Follow efficient work methods, procedures and techniques.
- Contribute to planning work rotas and task allocation where required.
- Check work for completeness and report any issues, delays or variations.
- Ensure all tools and equipment used are appropriately certified and/or calibrated.
- Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, clients and other third parties.
- Undertake any specialist training required for the role.
- Apply continuous improvement principles to help drive best practice.
Person Specification:
- Ideally 5+ years’ experience in MIG and TIG welding and fabrication, supported by relevant qualifications/training.
- Experience in light welding and general fabrication for electrical containment systems and stainless-steel support structures.
- Ability to work confidently from technical drawings.
- Ability to create simple fabrication drawings for customer review and acceptance.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Good understanding of current health and safety requirements for welding and other hot works.
- Experience operating MEWPs.
- Good communication skills.
- A collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Full UK driving licence.
Qualifications and Site tickets:
- NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) or suitable accreditation in Welding/Fabrication.
- CSCS or ECS Card in a mechanical/welding and fabrication discipline (desirable).
- Relevant industry safety passport (e.g. food & drink or process-industry) (desirable).
- MEWP safety training card, IPAF 3a/3b or equivalent (desirable).
