Contract - Mechanical Design Engineer (Outside IR35) in the West Yorkshire region (Leeds / Bradford). Gross Rate - £40.00 - £45.00 p/h DOE. Monday to Friday / Some flexible working. Duration: 3-6 months (potential for extension).
We are representing a key client, a market-leading engineering company that specialises in supplying bespoke process, automation and special purpose machinery to high-end technology industries. Due to new project wins, you will take ownership of the design from initial concept through to completion, working on bespoke cutting-edge equipment that pushes the boundaries of engineering design.
Daily responsibilities:
- Leading the full lifecycle of mechanical design projects, from concept through detail design and into manufacture.
- Producing high-quality 3D CAD models and detailed drawings using Autodesk Inventor or SolidWorks.
- Applying Geometric Tolerancing (GT&D) and carrying out design calculations where needed.
- Liaising with clients, project managers, and production teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Person specification:
- Minimum HNC Mechanical Engineering.
- Strong experience in 3D CAD – Inventor or SolidWorks or similar.
- A proven track record of managing designs independently through to manufacture.
- Knowledge of GD&T and mechanical design calculations is a strong advantage.
- A proactive, detail-oriented approach and a genuine passion for mechanical engineering.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
