Role: Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrically qualified)

Location: East Yorkshire – Goole / Howden / Selby

Industry: Manufacturing / FMCG / Food

Salary: Up to £40k - £45k per annum, depending on experience

Benefits: 28 days holiday incl. bank holidays, standard contributory pension, death in service

Working hours: 48hrs per week Mon – Fri 7.30am – 4pm / Occasional weekend working (flexible to meet business demands)

The client is a leading UK food manufacturing organisation, who supply to major UK retailers. Still family owned, they have a rich history having operated for over 60 years. With state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities including in Yorkshire, they are looking to expand their operations in the near future as well.

The role requires an experienced Electrically biased Maintenance Engineer to provide exemplary hands-on multi-skilled engineering duties to contribute to the smooth operation of the site's production objectives and targets. This role requires a minimum of 60-70% hands-on factory floor involvement and can offer advancement into a supervision/management position.

Key day to day responsibilities:

  • Prioritise and manage site engineering activities, delegating work effectively to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance programmes, inspections and engineering systems.
  • Ensure all plant, equipment and systems are safely maintained, legally compliant and protected in line with relevant legislation.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve equipment issues promptly to minimise downtime and maintain production performance.
  • Ensure machinery and plant operate at optimum efficiency, speed and reliability with minimal disruption to production.
  • Promote industry best practice, continuous improvement and the introduction of new technologies where appropriate.
  • Maintain compliance with food safety, GMP, FSA, health and safety, quality and company standards.
  • Ensure completed work is safe, hygienic and carried out with effective housekeeping and practices.
  • Support waste reduction initiatives, complete all required records and paperwork accurately, and liaise with senior management as necessary.
  • Promote a strong safety culture, contribute to engineering risk assessments, undertake professional development and complete other duties within the scope of the role.

Person Specification:

  • Experience working on filling and emptying machinery, packing lines.
  • Experience with environmental heating and cooling systems.
  • Experience working in the food industry.
  • Ideally looking to progress into supervisory/management position.

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualification (NVQ L3/HNC/HND) in Electrical Engineering ideally – mechanical will be considered.
  • Extensive practical knowledge of electrical & mechanical engineering.
  • 17th / 18th Edition wiring regulations.
  • IOSH/NEBOSH ideally.
  • Proactive and highly organised with strong time management skills.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.
  • Previous supervisory or management experience desirable.
