The client
Our client is a UK-based engineering, installation and construction organisation specialising in bespoke bulk materials handling systems and full process plant solutions. Their expertise covers the full project lifecycle – from initial design engineering, and technical consultation through to EPCM/EPC contracts, construction, installation, commissioning, and long-term maintenance. They deliver solutions for clients across mining, cement, aggregates, food, alternative fuels, biomass, steel, infrastructure, and ports, both in the UK and internationally. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team with decades of experience and play a key role in delivering large, complex projects across multiple industries.
The Role
We’re looking for a motivated and ambitious Site Installation Engineer to oversee projects across the UK and Europe, including steel structures, conveyors, storage facilities, and industrial plant installations. The Site Installation Engineer will report to the Construction Director and take ownership of multi-disciplinary teams (mechanical, structural, electrical, and civil), ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead site installation activities across steel structures, conveyors, and plant process assembly.
- Ensure compliance with Zero Harm policies, CDM, and HSE standards.
- Review and approve subcontractor RAMS, Scope of Works, and Lift Plans.
- Manage daily/weekly site planning, reporting progress, and maintaining schedules.
- Issue and control site permits (Hot Works, Working at Height, etc.).
- Supervise and motivate teams to deliver on time, within budget, and to the required quality.
- Coordinate logistics for site deliveries, plant, and resources.
- Conduct toolbox talks, site audits, and client/contractor meetings.
- Resolve site issues relating to quality, safety, and client satisfaction.
Construction installations may involve 10-12-hour days and working at weekends at times of busy periods.
The candidate
We’re seeking someone confident, proactive, and comfortable making decisions in a dynamic site environment.
Essential qualifications & experience:
- HNC/HND (or equivalent) in an engineering/technical discipline.
- CSCS Black Card, SMSTS/SSSTS qualified & First Aid at Work (3-day).
- 5–10 years’ experience as a Site Installations Engineer in construction/heavy engineering.
- Strong background in steel construction, conveyors, and large plant assembly & commissioning industrial plant.
- Skilled in reviewing and authoring RAMS, Lift Plans, and construction documentation.
- Proficiency in MS Office; ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (AutoCAD etc).
- IOSH/NEBOSH certification & Knowledge of ATEX/DSEAR, ISO 9001 & 14001 (desirable).

- Strong multi-tasking and prioritisation skills, excellent communication – with clients, teams, and stakeholders.
- Ability to motivate teams and get the best out of people.
- Attention to detail, with a focus on delivering safely, on time, and to spec.
- Flexible to travel UK wide.
Package & Benefits
- Salary: £51,000p/a (based on 40hr standard week)
