G E Smith LTD requires a Class 1 HGV Driver based from our depot in Malton, North Yorkshire. The role involves tramping across the North of England, with duties including box and curtainsider deliveries. Work starts Monday and ends Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. Optional weekend overtime and early-start shift opportunities are available.
Applicants must have:
- a full Class 1 HGV licence with no more than 6 points
- an up-to-date Driver CPC qualification
- a minimum of 2 years’ experience preferred to satisfy insurance cover
We will not out base a truck for this role. All full-time drivers are assigned their own dedicated truck (Volvo, Mercedes or Renault) to look after.
Compensation:
- £14 p/h Monday-Friday
- £16.60 p/h Saturday
- £17.66 p/h Sunday
- £20 per month phone contribution
- £25.50 overnight subsistence payment per qualifying night out with receipts
- Up to £10 per week fuel bonus for achieving over 9 mpg
- £10 early-start money for shifts starting at 4 a.m.
- £20 early-start money for shifts starting between 6 p.m. and 3 a.m.
- Paid parking when loaded
The salary calculation is based on 60 hours per week, which is the current average for our drivers. Example earnings calculation: 60 hours @ £14/h = £840 per week before tax; plus four nights out @ £25.50 each = £102; plus £5 weekly mobile phone contribution = £947 per week. Optional overtime is paid on Saturday and Sunday. The role includes 20 days holiday plus statutory.
