We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Delivery Driver to join our team in a friendly, forward‑thinking practice. Candidates will need excellent communication skills, be passionate about working in the NHS and helping to support the local community. This is a Part Time position of 10 hours per week, with a weekly working pattern of Monday to Friday, 2 hours per day. Please only apply if you are available to work these days and times. This is a 12 month contract with the possibility of extension or a permanent role.
Main duties of the job:
- To deliver and collect goods, prescriptions and documentation safely, promptly and accurately between four practices.
- To maintain a safe vehicle, to drive safely and courteously.
- To assist with other practice duties requested by the management.
Job responsibilities:
- Always follow all applicable Standard Operating Procedures.
- Ensure authorization is requested and received in advance for any unscheduled stops.
- Deal with all contacts in a prompt, courteous, friendly manner.
- Assist staff at all practices as required.
- Ensure the safekeeping of the vehicle, goods and documentation during loading, unloading, driving and delivering.
- Refrigerated drugs are in a nominated cool storage within the vehicle where available or arrange delivery route to avoid such items being in the vehicle for excessive periods.
- Ensure packages containing medication are stored out of sight and that the contents are not identifiable.
- All information transported always remains confidential and out of sight.
- Lock the vehicle whenever unattended.
- Minimise the number of personal belongings carried in the vehicle.
- Own vehicle maintenance to ensure that the vehicle is always serviceable and road worthy.
- Ensure that insurance cover is maintained on transport duly covering the purposes for which it is used.
- Always drive safely and in a courteous manner in accordance with the Highway code.
- Always drive to the road conditions.
- Report to your manager immediately if anything affects your ability to drive safely and legally (illness, medication changes, pending prosecution or licence endorsements).
- Ensure high visibility clothing is used when appropriate.
- Always be an ambassador for the Surgery.
- Report accidents immediately, following practice procedure at the scene of the incident.

- High levels of accuracy and attention to detail essential at all times.
- Exposure to distressing situations and written material.
DBS Check:
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Qualifications:
- Willing and able to undertake training and develop competency.
