Lead Architect - £95k - North East / Scotland - Hybrid - Innovative Tech Consultancy

Fancy an architecture role where you're actually in the room shaping strategy, making the calls, and staying close enough to delivery to see your decisions land. We're working with a brilliant technology consultancy looking for a Lead Architect to bring technical leadership across a genuinely varied portfolio of client work. Client demand is on the up, and they need more architects to match it. No two projects look the same and neither does the tech stack.

This role sits at the intersection of technical leadership, delivery and consultancy. You'll work closely with tech and delivery teams day to day not fully hands‑on, but close enough to roll your sleeves up when it counts. You'll balance strategy with practical implementation, whether leading a smaller team solo or supporting a larger programme.

What's in it for you:

  • Shape the technology strategy behind high‑impact projects across diverse industries
  • Own the architectural decisions that define how solutions are built and delivered
  • Get hands‑on with new technologies, tools and approaches on every engagement
  • Real autonomy to pick the right patterns and tools for each client's problem

The experience I'd love to see:

  • Experience providing technical leadership across delivery teams
  • Comfort working across the full software development lifecycle
  • Skill applying architectural patterns to real‑world problems
  • Strong communication with technical and business stakeholders

If you're an architect who thrives on variety, new tech and a visible hand in what you build, this could be your next move.

How to prepare for a job interview at G.Digital

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If G.Digital uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
