We are looking for a permanent HGV Fitter / Mechanic to be based in our Cardigan Workshop to carry out routine service and maintenance to our fleet of heavy goods vehicles. In return we offer a competitive salary, with overtime rates.

The Role:

  • Subject to Passing a Drug and Alcohol Test

Health and Safety:

  • Meet company standards for PPE and safety.
  • Report all near misses and unsafe conditions.
  • Comply with all government legislation for maintaining road worthiness published by the DVSA.

Operations:

  • Carry out vehicle inspections to DVSA standards, preferably with demonstrable knowledge and experience with heavy goods vehicles.
  • Complete scheduled and reactive maintenance to GDH vehicles, as well as routine servicing.
  • Diagnose faults & correct/repair vehicle defects in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Conduct MOT Preparation work for DVSA Testing.
  • Ensure all paperwork including safety inspection records are completed to a high standard in a timely manner.
  • Work to deadlines as part of a team, with limited supervision.
  • Operate a range of computerised systems to diagnose engine fault codes and rectify.
  • Follow workshop procedures e.g. Re-torque procedure, rmx auxiliary inspection.

Essential:

  • Experience in servicing, repair and maintenance of HGVs.
  • Must own their own tools (specialist tools provided).
  • Driving licence.
  • Experience in basic vehicle electrical repairs.

Desirable:

  • IRTEC accreditation.
  • HGV Class 1 licence.
  • Heavy vehicle service and maintenance technician (level 3) or equivalent experience.
