G Crook & Sons are seeking an experienced and reliable HGV Class 1 (Articulated) Driver to join our team. You will be responsible for delivering heavy plant and agricultural machinery to sites across Dorset using our modern fleet of Volvo and Scania beavertail lorries and articulated units. This is a varied and hands-on role requiring specialist knowledge beyond standard haulage. Early morning starts are essential to ensure timely deliveries without disrupting site operations. The successful candidate can expect to enjoy a varied and interesting occupation with a good salary to reflect their skills and dedication to the company. The starting rate is £16.00 per hour; however, if you have plenty of experience and show commitment to the business, an increase in hourly rate will be reflected to show our appreciation. Please note that we will not consider taking on drivers that do not have experience in this role, as it is more complex than standard road haulage and requires specific skills and previous knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Safely transport and deliver heavy plant and agricultural machinery
  • Load and unload machinery, including excavators, dumpers, rollers, and telehandlers
  • Complete daily vehicle checks and maintain accurate records
  • Ensure correct use and operation of tachographs
  • Accurately complete delivery and collection documentation
  • Identify and utilise back-loading opportunities where possible
