G Crook & Sons are looking to recruit an experienced Mobile Plant Machinery Engineer to support our expanding operations. With a hire fleet of over 500 machines — from mini excavators to 35-tonne excavators, dumpers, dozers, screeners, and crushers — this is a hands-on and varied role working both on-site and at customer locations. You will be provided with a fully equipped modern van, allowing you to carry out maintenance and repairs efficiently in the field.

Key Responsibilities of the Heavy Plant Fitter

  • Carry out maintenance and repair of plant machinery safely and efficiently
  • Diagnose faults using diagnostic equipment
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and health & safety compliance
  • Complete all paperwork and service records accurately
  • Use appropriate PPE at all times
  • Communicate effectively with Transport and Workshop Managers

Requirements of the Heavy Plant Fitter

  • Proven hands-on experience in plant machinery maintenance and repair (essential)
  • Relevant qualifications (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent) preferred but not essential
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong understanding of health & safety procedures
  • Own comprehensive tool kit (essential)
  • Full UK driving licence
