Overview
Position Title: Health, Safety & Environment Manager
Position Type: Regular β Full-Time
Position Location: Whittlesey
As Health, Safety and Environment Manager, itβs your job to ensure the smooth running, monitoring and awareness of all Site Safety practices in line with legislation and company policies and procedures; working as an influential part of the senior leadership team to ensure effective communication, continuous improvement and world class safety and environmental standards are achieved.
Responsibilities
- Drive safe working practices, ensuring legal compliance.
- Support strategy and policy development with the HSE Manager.
- Lead risk assessments and outline safe systems of work.
- Conduct daily site checks to ensure policy adherence.
- Deliver HSE training and inductions.
- Record, report, and investigate incidents to identify root causes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of GB HSE legislation.
- Manage and report on inspections, audits, and site compliance data.
- Oversee BS ISO 45001 & 14001 systems and audit plans.
- Ensure safe installation of plant/equipment.
- Advise on fire safety, hazardous substances, noise, and more.
- Manage incident reporting systems and toolbox talks.
- Work closely with senior leadership team, HR, and OH on investigations.
- Coordinate HSE meetings and follow-up actions.
- Ensure contractor/visitor compliance and training.
- Lead emergency drills and update procedures as needed.
- Use safety scorecards to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure site Environmental Permit compliance.

- NEBOSH General Certificate in H&S β Essential
- NEBOSH National Diploma β Essential
- Professional Environmental qualification β Essential
- Influencing and negotiating skills β Essential
- Experience of PC systems and strong PC skills: Word, Excel, Outlook
Experience
- 7-10 yearsβ experience of a senior HSE management position within manufacturing β Essential
- Working in a large food manufacturing company β Desirable
- Experience of ISO 14001 β Desirable
- Experience of ISO 45001 β Essential
- Experience of HACCP β Desirable

Location
Youβll be based at our Whittlesey plant in Peterborough. With about 350+ employees on site, weβre one of our largest plants across the GB business. The plant makes our French Fries and related chilled products.
