THE DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
At Fyxer, design starts with human behaviour — not screens, not components, not flows. We believe the best product decisions come from understanding why people do what they do, and working backwards from there. That's not a principle we put on a wall. It's how we make decisions.
WHAT YOU'RE WALKING INTO
We're not starting from zero. We have a designer on the team, a visual identity built with Red Antler, and a product that real users depend on every day. What we don't yet have is a senior design voice — someone who is the instinctive first call across the company when a product, experience, or communication decision needs a human-behaviour lens on it. That's this role. You'll report to our Group PM and work as the sole designer, an early PM hire, and engineers directly. You'll be the most senior design hire we've made — with real influence not just over what gets built, but over how this company thinks about the people it builds for. If you believe that understanding people is the hardest and most important part of design — and that everything else follows from that — this is the role for you.
What we care about, in order
- HUMAN BEHAVIOUR FIRST - You think in motivation, habit, and friction before you think in screens. You understand why people do what they do — and you use that to make product decisions, not just design decisions.
- CRAFT AND EXECUTION - You ship. You work directly with engineers and move fast without losing the quality that makes a product feel premium. You've used Figma, ShadCN, and Tailwind long enough to know their edges.
- AI-NATIVE WORKFLOWS - You understand how modern engineers build with AI tools, and you think about design in that context. We care about principles, components, and systems that plug seamlessly into engineering workflows rather than living in static documentation. You're comfortable working close to implementation and helping create experiences that stay coherent even as teams move quickly with AI-assisted development.
What you'll be working on
Fyxer is an AI-powered productivity platform. You'll be designing interfaces where the AI does real work — live transcription, deeply personalised drafts, complex cross-surface workflows. These aren't CRUD forms. They're experiences that need to feel effortless despite genuine complexity underneath. A large part of this role is interaction design. We’re building products with genuine complexity underneath them, and we care about making those experiences feel calm, intuitive, and coherent across every touchpoint.
- A real-time notetaker that generates live transcripts and surfaces insights in context
- Personalised AI draft generation that adapts to each user's communication style
- A seamless web and mobile web experience that makes AI feel like a natural daily habit
- Custom internal tooling that gives our engineering team design-aligned components and workflows
Who you are
- You run your own user research. You talk to users, watch session recordings, and use what you find to defend — or change — your design decisions.
- You have 5+ years designing in high-growth, early-stage environments where structure was something you built, not inherited.
- You'll work closely with an early PM hire — this is a foundational relationship you'll help define, not a dynamic you're inheriting.
- You understand technical constraints well enough to have a real conversation with an engineer — not just hand over a Figma file.
- You've worked with or designed around AI-generated outputs and you've thought carefully about what that does to UX.
- You move fast because you're good, not because you cut corners.
The stack
- Design: Figma, Miro, Lucide
- Component alignment: ShadCN, Tailwind CSS, V0
- Insight: PostHog (surveys, session recording, analytics)
Why Fyxer?
We are intentional about our team. We believe a small, exceptional team working with extreme focus will always outperform a large, bloated organization.
- Autonomy: We hire people who want ownership and then we actually give it to them.
- Velocity: You will be fast-tracked into senior responsibilities far earlier than at a traditional company.
- Scale: We are on track to hit $100M in revenue by the end of 2026. This is a rare opportunity to join a high-growth rocket ship at the foundational stage.
