The Opportunity:

I'm currently supporting an award-winning, tech-for-good SaaS business that is looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer to lead the development of a brand-new React Native application. This is a genuine greenfield opportunity. Rather than joining an established mobile team, you'll take ownership of the mobile platform from day one, shaping the architecture, technical direction and engineering standards as the product evolves.

The business develops technology that delivers real-world impact at scale, with platforms relied upon by hundreds of thousands of users every year. Their engineering culture is highly collaborative, ownership-driven and forward-thinking, embracing modern AI-assisted engineering practices to help developers work smarter and focus on solving meaningful technical challenges.

Working alongside an experienced Ruby on Rails engineering team, you'll design and build a cross-platform React Native application that will become a key part of the company's next phase of growth.

What you'll be doing:

As the Senior Mobile Engineer, you'll own the end-to-end delivery of a new React Native application, helping define both the technical architecture and the engineering practices around it.

Responsibilities include:

  • Architecting and building a greenfield React Native application for iOS and Android.
  • Establishing scalable engineering standards, testing strategy and CI/CD practices.
  • Working closely with backend Ruby on Rails engineers to design API contracts and seamless integrations.
  • Taking ownership of technical decisions around performance, scalability, accessibility and maintainability.
  • Collaborating with Product and Design to translate product goals into technical delivery.
  • Identifying risks, managing technical debt and helping shape the long-term roadmap for the mobile platform.
  • Driving engineering quality whilst remaining hands-on throughout development.

About you:

You’ll ideally have:

  • Strong commercial experience developing React Native applications using TypeScript.
  • Experience architecting and delivering production mobile applications.
  • Confidence owning technical decisions from design through to release.
  • Experience working with APIs and backend integrations.
  • Strong understanding of mobile performance, testing and application lifecycle management.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across Engineering, Product and Design.
  • Confidence using modern AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity and code quality.

Experience working with B2B SaaS products or high-availability production environments would be beneficial, although not essential.

How to prepare for a job interview at Fynity

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Fynity uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
