The predicted salary is between 79200 - 88000 £ per year.

To join a global FinTech on a 6-month contract with possible extension. Rate - £450 - £500 Per day Inside IR35 - Remote.

The role requires hands-on technical expertise and strong collaboration with developers, architects, and DevOps teams to ensure our data infrastructure aligns with business needs and industry standards.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage, configure and optimise PostgreSQL databases hosted on Amazon Aurora and Oracle databases hosted on on-premise Exadatas and AWS RDS.
  • Support the migration of high-performance, mission-critical databases from on-premise Exadata's to AWS Aurora Postgres.
  • Support workloads on other database engines in AWS, including MySQL, MariaDB and SQL Server.
  • Implement and maintain strong security standards to ensure compliance with PCI DSS and other regulatory requirements.
  • Implement security best practices, including user management, encryption and auditing.
  • Design and implement database schemas, partitioning strategies and indexing solutions.
  • Ensure high availability, disaster recovery and scalability of database systems.
  • Configure strong monitoring and management processes and tooling to help troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues in Real Time.

Your profile

Essential

  • Hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL and Oracle DBA in production environments.
  • Significant experience of migrating database workloads to Postgres from Oracle.
  • Deep understanding of PostgreSQL architecture, including replication, clustering and indexing strategies, and a strong understanding of Postgres' vacuum/MVCC process.
  • Proven experience with query optimization and database performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, VPC, and IAM.
  • Solid understanding of database security principles and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience implementing robust backup and recovery strategies.

Desirable

  • Proficiency with infrastructure automation tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar.
  • Experience of database replication tooling such as AWS DMS and Goldengate.
  • Experience of collaborating with DevOps teams to integrate databases into CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) frameworks like Terraform.
