Overview

The Housing Team at Fylde are looking to recruit a part time post to prepare the service for the Renters Reform Bill. The role will support the Principal Housing Services Officer and work collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders, landlords, and tenants to maintain high standards of safety and compliance within the private rental sector across Fylde. Contract: Temporary (31 st March 2026). Hours: 21 hours per week. Closing Date: 22nd September 2025 12.00 Noon.

Responsibilities

  • Liaise with stakeholders, landlords and tenants to conduct disrepair inspections, build relationships with landlords to encourage compliance, ensure that non-compliance is addressed through a clear, concise but informal approach and be prepared to take formal action where necessary.
  • Work with colleagues to maintain high standards of safety and compliance within the private rental sector across Fylde.
  • Support the progression and implementation of new legislation, with a strong understanding of the Housing Act 2004, LACORS and the Fire Safety Order 2025; contribute to the progress of the Renters Reform Bill.
  • Work on your own initiative to manage a varied caseload across private sector enforcement and homelessness and housing advice services; contribute to the efficient and effective performance of the wider housing team as a strong team player.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of housing enforcement and the statutory framework relevant to private sector housing (Housing Act 2004, LACORS, Fire Safety Order 2025).
  • Experience in private sector enforcement and homelessness and housing advisory services is desirable (as implied by role responsibilities).
  • Ability to liaise with stakeholders, landlords and tenants and to take appropriate action when non-compliance is identified.
