Location: Hybrid working from our clients office near Trafford House, Manchester.
Our Client: An engineering design consultancy working closely with a wide range of clients, across a number of disciplines within the UK Water, rail, and utilities industries. Role Purpose: Responsible for solutions, design deliverables and technical standards for structural engineering designs across the water industry.
Role Profile:
- Ensure design team produce design deliverables that satisfy safety and quality requirements.
- Approve design deliverables, DRAs, reports and specifications.
- Identify appropriate and efficient design solutions from scopes and site visits and communicate these to client and project team.
- Direct and develop engineers, CAD technicians and graduates.
- Guide design in compliance with relevant technical, professional and water company standards.
- Ensure project change for design packages is fully implemented and recorded.
- Ensure work is undertaken using formal processes and procedures.
- Estimate hours required for design packages.
- Attend and present designs at ALM, KM meetings and similar.
- Review, interpret and brief standards, procedures and changes to them.
- Undertake the role of Professional Head for discipline and Responsible Engineer/CRE for specific projects.
- Provide key technical guidance for projects and tenders and ensure continuous improvement of technical standards.
What we require from you:
- 10 years’ structural design experience at senior or principal engineering level.
- Significant structural design experience within one or more of the following regulated industries: Rail, Water, Oil and gas, Nuclear, Highways, Bridges.
- Graduate or HND.
- Good level IT.
- Chartered engineer.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience in regulated water and/or rail industries.
- Awareness of construction methods and materials.
- Knowledge of Engineering Drawing Practices.
- Driving licence & access to vehicle.
