We’re currently working with a leading engineering business operating across the UK water and wastewater sector, who are looking to appoint an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing design team. This is a great opportunity for an electrical engineer with around 3–5 years’ design experience who is looking to develop their technical career while working on a range of water and wastewater projects.
Working as part of a multidisciplinary design team, you’ll be responsible for producing high-quality electrical design deliverables and supporting projects from concept through to construction. Your responsibilities will include:
- Producing electrical designs in line with safety, quality and client requirements
- Preparing electrical calculations, drawings, reports and technical specifications
- Developing LV electrical designs for water and wastewater treatment projects
- Working closely with CAD technicians to produce accurate and coordinated drawings
- Liaising with equipment suppliers, manufacturers and other engineering disciplines
- Ensuring designs comply with relevant British Standards, legislation and client specifications
- Supporting design reviews, risk assessments and value engineering activities
- Managing design changes throughout project delivery
- Attending client, supplier and internal design meetings
- Continuing to develop your technical knowledge through mentoring, CPD and professional development
We’re looking for someone with:
- A Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
- 3–5 years’ electrical design experience within the UK water industry
- Experience producing LV electrical designs for water or wastewater treatment projects
- Good knowledge of relevant British Standards and water industry design practices
- Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Experience working within a multidisciplinary design environment
- A full UK driving licence
It would also be beneficial if you have experience with:
- ICA, control systems or telemetry
- ATEX design principles
- Amtech, Trimble ProDesign or similar electrical design software
- BIM processes and Common Data Environments such as ProjectWise or Autodesk Construction Cloud
- Working towards IEng or CEng status
