Are you a seasoned Mechanical Engineering Leader looking to shape the future of water and wastewater infrastructure?
Our client, a leading engineering and infrastructure services provider, is seeking an Engineering Design Team Lead (Mechanical) to head up their mechanical design capability, supporting projects across all 10 major water and wastewater companies in England and Wales.

The Role

  • Lead, mentor and grow a team of mechanically biased design engineers.
  • Oversee projects from outline scope through to detailed design, fabrication and construction support.
  • Develop technical specifications and ensure compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement across engineering solutions.
  • Collaborate with multi-discipline teams, project managers, and commercial colleagues.
  • Build strong client and supply chain relationships while supporting site teams and projects in delivery.

About You

  • Strong mechanical design engineering background in water, wastewater or similar industries.
  • Experience managing and developing multi-discipline design teams.
  • Knowledge of CAD systems, CDE platforms, structural analysis, and planning tools.
  • Proven ability in project management and financial reporting.
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical or Civil Engineering.
  • Professional body membership (desirable).
