You will support the HS&E Manager in delivering high environmental standards across a range of infrastructure projects. The role focuses on ensuring compliance, improving environmental performance, and providing practical support to site and operational teams from planning through to project completion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of the environmental strategy across the framework, driving continuous improvement
  • Promote a strong environmental culture aligned with business values and behaviours
  • Provide clear environmental advice and support to site and project teams
  • Ensure compliance with the Environmental Management System and relevant legislation
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and regulators
  • Monitor environmental performance using KPIs and highlight areas for improvement
  • Support environmental risk management across all project stages
  • Represent the HS&E function in meetings, audits, and reviews
  • Escalate and help resolve environmental issues when required

Day-to-Day Duties

  • Review RAMS, environmental plans, and high-risk documentation
  • Carry out site inspections, audits, and environmental reviews (including ISO 14001 compliance)
  • Support supply chain onboarding and performance monitoring
  • Deliver toolbox talks, training, and environmental briefings
  • Investigate incidents and non-conformances, identifying root causes and actions
  • Support incident reporting and close-out using internal systems
  • Produce monthly environmental performance reports

About You

  • Experience in an Environmental or HS&E role within construction, infrastructure, or utilities
  • NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate (or working towards)
  • Strong understanding of environmental legislation and management systems
  • Experience supporting environmental delivery across project lifecycles
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Good IT skills (Microsoft Office and reporting tools)
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel

Desirable

  • IEMA membership (or working towards)
  • Experience in water or regulated infrastructure sectors
  • Familiarity with environmental data and reporting systems
