Job Outline

The role involves ensuring that all works are accurately scoped with the client on-site using the relevant resources, providing technical knowledge on the repair, refurbishment, or replacement of equipment and plant, and ensuring estimates are completed on time in line with service level agreements. The position requires attendance at internal launch and scope meetings with associated departments, as well as external start-up, site visit, and design meetings.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring pre-construction process plans.
  • Arranging and attending technical meetings with clients, consultants, and sub-contractors.
  • Managing agreed resources, budgets, scope, and programmes with the site services team.
  • Producing commissioning plans and ensuring all documentation is in place for handover and sign-off.
  • Maintaining up-to-date health and safety documentation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Assist the estimating team with target price build-ups for new works, attending start-up, site visits, design meetings, and target price review meetings while monitoring pre-construction process plans.
  • Liaise with the internal design department to ensure full awareness of contract requirements, arranging and attending meetings with clients, consultants, and sub-contractors as required.
  • Ensure that all incoming and outgoing drawings and documents are appropriately stored and maintained electronically.
  • Manage installation and commissioning activities, including producing and approving method statements, risk assessments, and other required health and safety documentation.
  • Handle day-to-day on-site installation and commissioning, attend pre-contract and progress meetings with the Project Manager and subcontractors, manage sub-contracts and orders, and ensure documentation is in place for handover and sign-off.
  • Ensure all sub-contractor and supplier information and drawings are accurate, as-built, and available for inclusion into operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Liaise with internal resources to ensure the production of accurate and complete O&M documentation.
  • Manage the client interface by producing HSEQ paperwork for submission, attending update meetings at operational sites and client premises, and providing updated information and work summaries.
  • Compile and maintain all relevant HSEQ documentation, carry out site inductions, toolbox talks, and accident reporting, and liaise with HSEQ representatives on relevant matters.
  • Report all accidents, incidents, or near misses, highlight any breaches of company rules, and ensure all non-compliance issues are documented and investigated.
  • Understand and adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Comply fully with company Health and Safety policies, procedures, and codes of practice.
  • Demonstrate and uphold company values at all times.

Candidate

  • At least 2-5 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing large value projects from conception to handover.
  • A full UK driving license.
  • Familiarity with onsite health and safety regulations.
  • Water Hygiene training or a basic understanding of water and sewerage hygiene (desired).
  • Experience or a background in engineering, particularly in Water Utilities.
  • Previous experience working as a Project Engineer or Site Manager/Supervisor.
  • NVQ Level 3 Engineering discipline or HNC/HND (Desired).
  • CSCS.
