We are working with a leading engineering organisation in the water sector who are looking to appoint a Technical Specialist – Wastewater (Mechanical Bias) to act as a key technical authority within their process engineering team. This is a high-impact role supporting major infrastructure and treatment projects, with responsibility for driving technical excellence, innovation, and best practice across the business.
The role
- Act as the go-to expert for wastewater engineering, with a particular focus on the mechanical aspects of treatment systems and plant design.
- Providing expert technical input to bid and delivery teams.
- Supporting the design and specification of mechanical equipment (pumps, pipework, sludge handling systems, etc.).
- Acting as a focal point for complex technical challenges across wastewater projects.
- Assessing and implementing new and emerging treatment technologies.
- Supporting development of engineering standards and best practice.
- Liaising with external technology providers and equipment suppliers.
- Contributing to innovation and R&D initiatives.
About you
- Strong background in mechanical engineering within the water/wastewater sector.
- Proven experience in a senior / principal / specialist engineering role.
- Experience working with treatment plant equipment and mechanical systems.
- Understanding of wastewater/process engineering principles.
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
Desirable:
- Chartered status (CEng) or working towards.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution.
