Our client is a growing environmental management contractor delivering specialist works including wetlands creation, habitat creation, landscaping, and tree planting across major infrastructure projects throughout the UK. Their projects range from £7k minor works to £7m major infrastructure packages, with typical Quantity Surveyor responsibility covering schemes between £200k and £5m. Their clients are major well-known contractors who you could expect to be working with regularly.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor or experienced Assistant Quantity Surveyor ready to step up, working within a supportive commercial team and reporting into senior commercial leadership. You will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of multiple projects, working both independently and collaboratively across infrastructure and environmental schemes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial management of multiple projects from £200k to £5m
  • Cost planning, cost control, and financial reporting
  • Contract administration under NEC, JCT, or ICE contracts
  • Managing subcontractor procurement, valuations, and payments
  • Preparing and agreeing variations and final accounts
  • Supporting project delivery teams with commercial guidance
  • Ensuring projects are commercially successful and well-managed

Requirements

Essential

  • 2-5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveying or Assistant Quantity Surveyor role
  • Experience working on NEC, JCT, or ICE contracts
  • Experience working independently on live projects
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ambitious and motivated to develop within a growing business

Desirable

  • Infrastructure, civil engineering, or utilities experience (highways, rail, water, gas, electric, OHL)
  • Experience working with Tier 1 contractors or major infrastructure clients
  • Landscaping, environmental, or habitat creation experience
  • Experience using or exposure to CEMAR
  • MRICS or working towards professional accreditation
