About the Role
We're working with a well-established, values-driven environmental consultancy seeking a Senior or Principal Ecologist to take a technical lead across a diverse portfolio of ecological projects. This role offers the opportunity to combine hands-on technical delivery with leadership, mentoring, and client engagement. You'll be instrumental in shaping best practice, supporting junior ecologists, and helping clients deliver sustainable, compliant developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver Phase 1 & 2 habitat surveys, protected species surveys, EcIAs, HRAs, and BNG assessments
- Prepare PEAs, mitigation strategies, EPS licence applications, RAMS, and fee proposals
- Liaise with Natural England, local authorities, landowners, and key stakeholders
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior ecologists
- Lead client meetings, support tenders, and contribute to business development
About You
- Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
- Minimum 6 years' experience in ecological consultancy
- Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel when required
- CEnv or Full Member of CIEEM (or IEMA / ISEP equivalent)
- Holds at least one EPS licence
- Strong knowledge of BNG, EMS, and/or BREEAM
- Confident communicator with a collaborative and professional approach
