About the Role

We're working with a well-established, values-driven environmental consultancy seeking a Senior or Principal Ecologist to take a technical lead across a diverse portfolio of ecological projects. This role offers the opportunity to combine hands-on technical delivery with leadership, mentoring, and client engagement. You'll be instrumental in shaping best practice, supporting junior ecologists, and helping clients deliver sustainable, compliant developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver Phase 1 & 2 habitat surveys, protected species surveys, EcIAs, HRAs, and BNG assessments
  • Prepare PEAs, mitigation strategies, EPS licence applications, RAMS, and fee proposals
  • Liaise with Natural England, local authorities, landowners, and key stakeholders
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior ecologists
  • Lead client meetings, support tenders, and contribute to business development

About You

  • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 6 years' experience in ecological consultancy
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel when required
  • CEnv or Full Member of CIEEM (or IEMA / ISEP equivalent)
  • Holds at least one EPS licence
  • Strong knowledge of BNG, EMS, and/or BREEAM
  • Confident communicator with a collaborative and professional approach
