A leading Tier 1 contractor within the UK water sector is looking to appoint an experienced Fabrication Design Engineer to support a growing portfolio of work across major AMP frameworks including Yorkshire Water and Severn Trent Water projects.
Based from their Bradford office, this role will focus on the design and detailing of fabrication packages for an in-house manufacturing facility, producing galvanised mild steel (GMS) and stainless-steel pipework, permanent access steelwork, supports and associated fabrication ancillaries.
This position would suit an individual with strong practical fabrication design experience who is comfortable working closely with workshop teams, installers and project delivery personnel throughout the full project lifecycle.
You will be responsible for:
- Producing high-quality fabrication and manufacturing drawings, ensuring designs are practical, compliant and suitable for efficient manufacture and installation.
- Producing detailed fabrication drawings for GMS and stainless-steel pipework systems.
- Designing permanent access fabrications, supports and associated steelwork.
- Developing accurate 3D models and manufacturing outputs using Autodesk Inventor.
- Coordinating with fabrication workshop teams and site installation crews to ensure buildability and efficient delivery.
- Supporting projects across Yorkshire Water, Severn Trent Water and Manx Utilities frameworks.
- Assisting with fabrication detailing, material selection and overall design coordination.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in fabrication design within the water, utilities or process engineering sectors.
- Experience with SolidWorks would be advantageous.
- Good understanding of WIMES 9.02 and permanent access fabrication standards.
- Pipe support and structural support design.
- Fabrication and installation processes.
- Experience working closely with fabricators and site installation teams.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and project requirements.
