Our client, a leading water sector specialist, is seeking Mechanical Fitters to work in the water industry. Ideally, candidates will have previous water sector experience, but the client will consider candidates with a relevant industrial background and experience working on plant equipment/assets.

Sponsorship cannot be offered for this role; applicants must have full right to work in the UK. This is a van-based role, primarily based in the East Midlands.

Package Details:

  • £16.50 per hour
  • Role is paid door-to-door
  • Additional uplift for working away from home
  • Overtime available, paid at x1.5 up to Saturday noon, paid at x2 thereafter
  • Van provided
  • Site hours 7-3, salary based on a 40-hour working week
  • Call out is required as part of this role

Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain mechanical equipment, including pumps, motors, gearboxes, valves, and bearings.
  • Fit and install steel support systems as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and perform fault-finding on mechanical equipment.
  • Assist electricians or civil engineers with tasks as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety procedures and company policies, including following Safe Systems of Work and Risk Assessments on-site.
  • Understand and sign all CPP/RAMS documentation before starting work on-site.
  • Always prioritise safety, keeping both personal and team safety in mind.
  • Manage and take responsibility for the use and upkeep of a company van.
  • Be prepared for occasional travel away from home.
  • Perform other general mechanical duties as assigned.

Candidate:

As this role is working on water treatment sites, ideally you will have relevant experience of sewage treatment plants, pumping stations, and clean water sites. Candidates must be competent with remedial/servicing work on heavy plant machinery and mechanical assets, including but not limited to gearboxes, motors, pumps, valves, and bearings.

Formal Mechanical Qualifications or recognised apprenticeship are required.

Essential: CSCS Card, UK Driving Licence

Desired: Confined Space, First Aid Trained, EUSR Water Hygiene
