FX Digital is a specialist Connected TV agency, providing a wide range of services, including Product Strategy, Design, Engineering, and Test Automation. We partner with global streaming brands such as Discovery+, BritBox, ATP Media, ITV, and Dyn.

As a Midweight Quality Engineer (QE) Analyst at FX Digital you will be passionate about delivering exceptional software quality through automation-led testing, supported by strong manual expertise. This role contributes to FX Digital’s Testing as a Service (TAAS) offering, working closely with external client partners on Connected TV and Set Top Box projects.

You will report into the Quality Engineering (QE) team, working closely with the Service Delivery Manager and wider engineering function. Independently defining robust test strategies, writing high-quality manual and automated test cases, and delivering comprehensive coverage across multiple concurrent projects. This is an automation-first role, but manual testing remains essential for scenarios less suited to automation.

You will be able to write code to a good standard in TypeScript, contributing to the development and execution of scalable automated test suites. You will be a dependable and collaborative member of the QE team, confident in challenging quality standards, following and improving processes, and representing FX Digital’s commitment to quality in both internal releases and client deliverables.

Responsibilities
  • Quality Engineering & Test Ownership
    • Own and drive testing activities across the full software delivery lifecycle, including:
      • Requirement analysis and test strategy definition.
      • Manual test execution and exploratory validation.
      • Automated test execution and regression coverage.
      • Defect investigation, reporting, and prioritisation.
      • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of automated test suites (Written in TypeScript).
      • Take accountability for ensuring quality standards are upheld across functional, UX, performance, and platform-specific requirements.
      • Produce and maintain high-quality documentation, including:
        • Robust test plans and test case suites.
        • A structured and maintainable manual test pack to support release and client validation.
        • Comprehensive test reports tailored to the client's requirements.
  • Testing as a Service (TAAS) Delivery
    • Deliver high-quality testing outcomes for FX Digital’s TAAS clients, ensuring their applications meet both business and customer expectations.
    • Operate confidently across multiple external client projects, managing competing priorities while maintaining consistent delivery excellence.
    • Act as a trusted quality partner to internal and external stakeholders, communicating clearly on:
      • Testing progress and risks.
      • Automation maturity and coverage.
      • Defect impact and resolution support.
      • Release readiness and go/no-go confidence.
    • Represent FX Digital’s quality standards professionally within client-facing environments.
  • Automation & Technical Collaboration
    • Support technical QE initiatives such as:
      • Smart TV and connected device setup and troubleshooting.
      • Test environment readiness and reliability.
      • Connected TV lab support, uptime, and process improvement.
      • Debugging complex cross-device issues.
    • Drive increased automation coverage across current and future projects, identifying opportunities for efficiency and scalability.
    • Work closely with QE engineers and developers to embed automation into CI/CD workflows and release pipelines.
Requirements
  • Strong professional experience in software testing, with a focus on quality engineering and automation-led delivery.
  • Proven ability to develop, execute, and maintain automated test suites within a fast-paced engineering environment.
  • Experience with a programming language applied within automation frameworks (preferable TypeScript with knowledge of Gherkin).
  • Solid understanding of debugging principles.
  • Experience testing APIs and using relevant tooling.
  • Strong knowledge of version control workflows (e.g. Git) and collaborative development practices.
  • Experience with CICD workflows and pipelines.
  • Excellent understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle and the role QE plays in modern delivery teams.
  • Experience with issue-tracking tools such as Gitlab, Qase or Jira.
  • Strong analytical and investigative skills, able to debug issues across devices and environments.
  • Confident communicator, able to influence stakeholders and operate effectively in client-facing delivery contexts.
  • Comfortable managing priorities across multiple concurrent projects and service engagements.
  • Collaborate in Agile ceremonies (refinement, sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives), providing test insights, estimating effort and influencing team decisions around quality.
