Celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, D+S has a legacy of offering unrivalled expertise across the spectrum of construction consultancy services including Cost Management, Project Management, Building Surveying and Principle Designer. D+S has played a part in delivering some of the most iconic development projects across Scotland and beyond.
The opportunity D+S is looking to appoint its first Marketing & Business Development Director to help drive the firm’s ambitious plans for growth. This strategic hire will be a senior executive growth leader within D+S and a core member of the Strategy Board. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the role is responsible for enabling and accelerating sustainable growth across markets, sectors, geographies, and clients, aligned to the company’s strategic direction and vision. This is not a traditional marketing role. It is a strategic leadership position focused on market intelligence, business development, brand positioning, opportunity creation, and the effective use of data and AI to support growth and decision-making.
Key responsibilities
- Strategic Growth & Business Strategy Contribution: Supporting the CEO in setting and owning the firm’s strategic growth agenda by translating strategic intent into tangible growth actions. Enabling delivery of Business Strategy priorities relating to new markets, client growth, and brand visibility. Leading continuous market scanning across investment trends, client behaviour, policy, and sector dynamics. Monitoring competitor activity and providing insight into positioning, strengths, weaknesses, and emerging threats.
- AI, Data & Digital Enablement: Championing the responsible, practical, and value-adding use of AI across marketing, business development, market intelligence, bids, and internal communications. Working with the CEO and Strategy Board to identify where AI can offer insight and competitive advantage.
- Business Development & Client Engagement: Working alongside Associate Directors and divisional leaders to support key account growth. Originating qualifying and helping to convert opportunities aligned with strategic priorities. Lead and assist on creating bids through in-design or equivalent.
- Marketing, Brand & Visibility: Owning and protecting the D+S brand, ensuring it reflects ambition, professionalism, and core values. Leading the firm’s external profile, including website, digital presence, social media, and thought leadership.
